Gloria Oppen, MS, FNP-C, PHD(C)
Owner of Southern Maine Wellness Works, LLC
Gloria Oppen, MS, BSN, RN, FNP-C, PhD Candidate, is a graduate of Rivier College, Nashua New Hampshire, and Regis College’s (Weston, MA) family nurse practitioner program. Mrs. Oppen relocated to Maine from Massachusetts where she was employed in the occupational health department at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Prior to that, she had worked in a college health clinic, and in the first New England Holistic Health Center in the 1980s. She has been involved in public health initiatives pertaining to tobacco and Lyme disease. Her practice focuses on Lyme disease evaluation and treatment, Functional Medicine, integrative medicine, nutrition, preventive health, weight management, and tobacco cessation. She is studying Lyme disease for her Doctoral dissertation.
Gloria resides in Wells, Maine with her husband Peter, and her son and 3 rescued Chihuahuas. She enjoys walking her dogs on the beach, reading, listening to pod casts to continue educating herself and spending time with family.
Cheryl Brown, BS
Cheryl is a great asset to the practice as she is ambitious, outgoing, and compassionate. She provides administrative and patient support. Before joining Southern Maine Wellness Works, Cheryl was an Administrative Assistant @ Southern Maine Integrative Health.
Her prior profession was an elementary/special educator for 30 years. She also studied Bowenwork in 2014 and began practicing as a Bowen Practitioner at a wellness center in NH in 2016. Cheryl will be accepting new clients for Bowen Therapy at this practice. (See services) A gift that comes naturally to her is helping others find their path to wellness, contribute, support, and make a difference in peoples' lives. She will be here to greet you with a smile and a sense of humor.
She and her husband chose to move to Maine from New Hampshire in 2015. Her family includes 2 married sons, 2 granddaughters, a grandson and her Morkie, Mallie. In her spare time, she enjoys walking on the beach, riding her bike, yoga, Pilates, reading, and crafting.
Kristen joined our SMWW team in November of 2021 as an administrative assistant. She adds patience, compassion, and warmth to our office. Kristen embraces the philosophy of Holistic Health Care. She is in a supportive role at SMWW to ensure that the clinic runs smoothly. Before joining us, she worked as an office administrator. She also worked as a PCA for about 10-years. Kristen recently moved from Massachusetts to Wells with her family. She is a devoted mother of 3 daughters. Two of her daughters are in college and the third is in middle school. She loves spending time with her family, taking hikes, and walking her Jack/Chi dog, Lucy, for walks.
