Are you experiencing chronic pain that has not been resolved
                         by traditional medical care?

Many people are dealing with pain that traditional medical care doesn’t seem to help alleviate or find solutions for.  Southern Maine Wellness Works recommends a combination of treatment modalities to assist patients achieve their wellness goals.  Most recently, they have added a therapy called Bowenwork.

What is Bowenwork?
Bowenwork is a system of non-invasive, gentle touch that initiates a series of responses through stimulation of the nervous, musculoskeletal, fascial and energetic systems of the human body.  The purpose of a Bowenwork session is to activate the innate healing mechanisms within the body so that, given time, the autonomic nervous system will self-regulate, energy will move more freely, and the body will heal to the extent it is able.

Bowenwork is gentle on the body, effective and appropriate for anyone to receive, including newborns, highly trained athletes, pregnant women, and the elderly.  The session is done over light clothing without deep manipulative or forceful treatment.  Each person responds differently to a Bowenwork session, according to his or her own body’s need and ability to heal.  Conditions that are seen to respond well include: musculoskeletal pain or injuries (back pain, frozen shoulder, arthritis, fibromyalgia) migraine headaches, digestive issues, respiratory difficulties, infertility, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and numerous other ailments.
